Mariona Perez, originally from Tarragona, Spain, made a name for herself as a top-ranked junior tennis player in her home country. Her talent and dedication led her to the United States, where she initially played for the University of Pittsburgh in the ACC conference, making an impressive rookie debut. Following her program getting cut, Mariona transferred to Division I powerhouse Saint Louis University, excelling as second singles and first doubles player.

Determined to balance her athletic and academic pursuits, Mariona pursued her Master’s Degree at the University of Toledo during her fifth year of eligibility. Her presence and skill contributed to the team's rise to a national ranking of #58 in Division 1, culminating in the program's first-ever conference title win.
