Setting the Standard for Junior Development

Launched in 2010, and now with 5 locations in NYC, Westchester and Long Island, JMTA is the New York region’s #1 program for developing nationally and internationally competitive juniors, as well junior players of all ages and levels who aspire to be the best that they can be.

Conceived and developed by John McEnroe in partnership with SPORTIME, and Directed by John, JMTA Executive Director, Patrick McEnroe, SPORTIME Executive Director of Tennis, Mike Barrell, and their world-class team of tennis, athletic development and other Directors and Coaches, JMTA has produced hundreds of players who have won titles at the sectional, national, intercollegiate and international levels, and thousands more who have fallen in love with the life-long sport of tennis!

JMTA delivers a training program designed to assure the best possible outcome for junior players; a program that enables JMTA players to make the most of their abilities, while supporting them in their academic pursuits and in living balanced, healthy lives.

Every JMTA session features positive, encouraging coaching in a fast-paced environment. The John McEnroe Tennis Academy strives to develop complete tennis players: technically and tactically sound, and smarter, stronger, fitter and faster. Our team of tennis, athletic training and mental toughness directors and coaches know where JMTA students are developmentally, where they need to go to maximize performance, and how they are going to get there.

John McEnroe and SPORTIME

John McEnroe, a native of Douglaston, Queens, is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and the greatest player to ever come out of New York. John’s passion and belief is that great players can be developed in urban settings, while still having the opportunity to live at home, pursue their educational goals, and participate in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. Founded on these beliefs, in September 2010, John, in partnership with SPORTIME Clubs, launched the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in his hometown of New York City.

JMTA features an international staff of committed and enthusiastic coaches with a diversity of experience. JMTA’s team of world-class Directors, including John and JMTA Executive Director Patrick McEnroe, provide coaches with ongoing supervision, support and training, to ensure that they are achieving the JMTA standard, executing the JMTA coaching methodology, and are making our players the best that they can be. Our coaches know that, much like their students, there is always more to learn and room to improve!
