About
The John McEnroe Tennis Academy’s (JMTA) one-on-one athletic development model, featuring strength and conditioning, sports science and sports medicine, is a valuable addition to on-court training. Here's an overview of how the program works:
The process begins with a screening/assessment. This evaluation helps to identify any deficits or movement faults in the player's physical abilities and movement patterns. Assessments include flexibility, strength, balance, coordination and agility. The purpose of the screening is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the player's current physical condition.
Based on the screening results, a personalized training program is designed for the player. This program is tailored to address the identified deficits and movement faults, with the goal of improving performance and reducing the risk of injuries. The training program may include a combination of strength training, conditioning exercises, agility drills and flexibility work.
The training program aims to enhance the player's overall performance on and off the court. The program helps players develop a solid foundation for athletic development by focusing on areas of improvement, including strength, power, speed, endurance, and mobility. Improved physical capacities and abilities often translate into better on-court performance, including increased power, speed, agility, and endurance.
Another vital pillar of the program is the use of sports medicine to decrease the risk of injuries. By addressing movement faults, improving biomechanics, and building strength and stability in key areas, players can reduce the likelihood of injuries, both during training and during competition.
