Airam Castellano Hernandez
Tennis Coach
Airam, originally from Gran Canaria, Spain, was a nationally ranked junior in his home country. Beginning in 2014, he attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and played on the men’s tennis team. In 2017, Airam was ranked #115 nationally in singles after reaching the Elite 8 in the ITA Central Regional. In 2018, he was ranked #72 nationally in doubles. He was named to the All-WAC First Team in singles and doubles, received the All-WAC Player of the Month award twice, and was named All-WAC Player of the Week 16 times. He won the WAC Player of the Year award in 2016 and helped lead the team to the 2017 WAC Championship. Between 2014 and 2018, Airam was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete and earned All-WAC Academic honors, and he holds the UMKC all-time record for most wins in singles and doubles. In 2018, Airam earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UMKC, and joined the SPORTIME/JMTA team in 2018.
