Owen Kassimir

Owen, originally from Jericho, Long Island, earned a bachelor’s degree in photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he also played on the men’s tennis team. After a 35-year career in photography, he returned to tennis in 2017 as Head Coach of the men’s and women’s tennis teams at the New York Institute of Technology. He led the women’s program to three consecutive East Coast Conference titles and was named ITA East Region Coach of the Year in 2018. Owen later became Head Coach of the Friends Academy girls’ and boys’ tennis teams. He led the girls’ team to a Long Island Championship in 2021 and the boys’ team to three consecutive Long Island Championships from 2023 to 2025, culminating in a New York State Championship title in 2025. In 2025, he was named Nassau County High School Coach of the Year by the USTA, and Newsday named him Long Island High School Coach of the Year. He joined the SPORTIME team in 2022.
